Launchpad product roadmap updates – Blueprints and Translations
Guruprasad shares an update on plans for Blueprints and Translations features in Launchpad. We’re told the Launchpad Blueprints feature usage has been declining, thus it will be retired at the end of the Ubuntu 27.10 development cycle (October 2027) with data dropped. Next, Guruprasad covers translations, stating the current implementation hasn’t changed much in years and tells us of plans to retire it and replace it with a modern translation platform; though no final decision has yet been reached. If we’re involved in Translations, we’re asked to provide input on workflows before the replacement platform is chosen, with details of how we can ‘get in touch’ provided.

Building an agentic testing system for charming claims
David Wilding explains an “attempt to build” a system that accepts a description of what needs testing and constructs tests for easily reviewable artifact and results. We’re given a quick primer on charmed applications (and Juju via link) before David describes what was done in creating this ‘testing system’. We’re told how the agent works, with some restrictions on the setup being mentioned and a discussion of risks included in this somewhat extensive post. We’re told David is still refining the work, and encourages us to explore similar systems & give him any suggestions.

An agentic workflow to triage Ubuntu FTBFS
“A couple weeks ago my application for Ubuntu Contributor was approved by the DMB and with this new recognition I felt empowered to go and do some good for Ubuntu and contribute a few packages. Looking for contributions is sometimes a daunting task for new and even seasoned contributors, there are a lot of places to look at within the Ubuntu package life cycle where it is possible to contribute (this previous post cover this life cycle at a high level) … So, I chose to look at FTBFS in universe.” - Matthieu Clemenceau

I’ve used Ubuntu for 22 years – and 26.10 might be its best release yet
Jack Wallen reminds us he’s been using Ubuntu since 4.10 and recalls good and bad releases, and here he explores Ubuntu 26.10. Jack starts with Myna, which he has added to his ‘best dictation apps for Linux’, then Jack moves on to other ‘software updates’ including GRUB, Coreutils now Rust, and more. Jack tells us it’s more secure and that Ubuntu 26.10 “feels like it’s a vast improvement over 26.04”.

Linux Finally Making It Easier To Answer The Question: “Is This RISC-V System RVA23?”
Michael Larabel tells us why the RISC-V RVA23 profile is a “big deal” to the RISC-V ecosystem, and informs us of pending Linux kernel patches that help with this. Michael makes reference to the Linux Plumbers Conference held recently in Prague that discussed this, gives us a link to the patch series, and ends telling us we’re “getting close” for easy RVA23 reporting to user-space.
